How to Create a Workspace in Switchboard

Need to provide a separate broadcasting environment for a specific department, partner agency, or remote production team? Creating a Workspace in Switchboard Live allows you to set up isolated streaming environments under your primary account umbrella. You can invite dedicated Workspace Managers to build their own workflows and social destinations without ever giving them access to your main account. Part 1: Create a New Workspace

The Primary Account Owner must complete this step.

  1. Log in to your primary Switchboard account.

  2. Click your Profile Icon in the top right corner of the dashboard.

  3. Click the Plus Icon (+) next to Workspaces.

  4. Enter a clear, recognizable name for the Workspace (e.g., "Parks & Rec Department" or "District 5 Broadcasters").

  5. Click Add. Your new Workspace will now appear in your workspace list!

Part 2: Invite a Workspace Manager

Once the Workspace is created, you can invite a dedicated person to manage it.

🛑 Important Note on Subscriptions: Depending on your Switchboard plan, activating a new Workspace may require an additional subscription or seat license. Ensure the Workspace subscription is active before sending invitations.

  1. Click your Profile icon and switch into the new Workspace you just created.

  2. Click the Main Menu (the hamburger icon) in the top left corner→Management

  3. Click Team Members.

  4. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.

  5. Click the Role drop-down menu and choose a role (such as Admin or Co-owner).

  6. Click Add.

Part 3: Setting Up the Workspace (For the Manager)

Once the invited Workspace Manager logs in, they have a completely blank, secure canvas to work with! Operating this Workspace as a standalone account, they can prepare for their events by:

  • Creating their own independent workflows.

  • Adding their own specific social media destinations (like their department's unique Facebook page or YouTube channel).

  • Creating Stream Groups to organize their broadcasts.

Part 4: Going Live from a Workspace

Broadcasting from a Workspace functions exactly like a standard Switchboard account. Once the Workspace Manager has built their workflow, they can go live completely independently of the primary account.

  1. The Workspace Manager turns on their production encoder (OBS, vMix, etc.) and sends their video feed directly to the Workspace's unique RTMP or SRT Server Ingest URL.

  2. They verify the video is playing clearly in the Workspace preview monitor.

  3. They click the green Start button to push the live stream to their specific social media destinations.
