Product Update — October 2026

New Streaming Infrastructure, SRT Input, Workspaces & Steadier Go-Lives 🚀

It's been a busy few months. Here's a roundup of the biggest things we shipped between May and October.

What's New

🛰️ New streaming infrastructure (May). New workflows now run on Switchboard's own ingest network, built for faster, more reliable go-lives and more accurate stream health data.

📡 SRT input (June). You can now send video to Switchboard over SRT, a protocol built to hold up on unreliable networks. It's available on workflows that run on the new infrastructure. See How to Connect Your Encoder to Switchboard via SRT Input in the Help Center.

🏢 Workspaces (July). The Workspaces page and workspace switcher have been redesigned, your main account is pinned to the top of the list, and you land in a new workspace right after creating it.

🖥️ Live previews. Workflows now show live thumbnail previews on the dashboard. The preview player catches back up to live on its own and no longer gets stuck after you stop a stream.

💬 Help inside the app. Click the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner to search help articles and see product updates without leaving Switchboard.

🔁 Facebook one-click reconnect. The Reconnect button now works for Facebook destinations too, and keeps your settings.

👀 Viewer counts. Facebook Page live viewer counts now display correctly, and X (Twitter) streams now show live viewer counts.

👥 Team roles. There's a new View-only role, so teammates can watch workflows, stream status and scheduled events without being able to go live, change settings or see stream keys. Owners can also now change a team member's role directly.

Reliability & Bug Fixes

  • Steadier go-lives. We fixed cases where a destination could drop mid-stream while your encoder stayed healthy, and where a broadcast that ended unexpectedly could block your next go-live.

  • Auto-start. It no longer silently skips a destination whose connection has expired.

  • Clearer status. A destination that drops after going live is no longer labeled "Start failed."

  • Deleting. Removing destinations and streams now works the first time.

  • Stream health. Region, connection timer and "N/A" values now display correctly.

  • Names. Group and event names can now include special characters like & and ;.

  • Login. We fixed users being sent back to the login screen after about 15 minutes, and a login loop on workspaces with a lapsed subscription. Switching accounts no longer carries over the previous user's workspace.

  • Group editor. It no longer freezes if a save fails or your connection drops.

  • Stream key. You can no longer reset it while you're live, so a misclick can't cut off your broadcast.

  • Blackmagic Design. Creating these workflows works again.

Under the Hood

  • The app runs on the latest version of its framework, for faster loading and stronger security.

  • The app now retries more gracefully when our servers are slow to respond.

  • We added new security protections in front of our APIs.

  • The Getting Started walkthrough videos have been refreshed.
